India and the Taj Mahal

I have the opportunity to be in India right now...end of December 2007. It is interesting, beautiful, and so very different. This is the Taj Mahal. It was built by a king in India in memory of his wife. It is in a very large complex of gardens and buildings, of which this is one. This particular building is made entirely of white marble and precious stones.

There are monkeys running free not only at historical sites, but in the cities. This one was lounging near the tomb of Akbar, the father of the king who built the Taj.

Just to prove I was there: me in front of the Taj.

This is to give an idea of the size and scale of the Taj. It is over 90 meters tall inside at the dome - about 300 feet.

They also have camels all over. They are on the streets pulling wagons; the person I am visiting here (Anand) says that many companies with whom he works have their cardboard boxes delivered by camels.

It is interesting to see the monkeys all over. Anand told us that when he was young, the monkeys around their home would sometimes take the clothes which were drying outside. Or their favorite thing to do was to take all the buttons off the shirts. They would leave the shirts - but keep the buttons!

Especially for Joan (the Macy's Parade!!)

We had a lot of fun at the parade. My favorite parts were the giant balloons, they were pretty cool. It was SOOO crowded, I have never seen so many people before. It was definitely fun to do once.

Me and Scooby Doo

Dave and the Empire State Building

Wynonna Judd

And Santa!

Joan - hopefully this video will give you a little taste of what the parade was like

Thanksgiving in New York!

We had a lot of fun in New York City this week. Here are a few pictures:

Here is me and Dave in front of the Statue of Liberty

Clair, Steve, Dave, Susan, Sarah, Sam, Nate, Thomas, and Gracie on the top of the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty (the highest point you can go now)

Me and Dave in front of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center (it wasn't lit up yet - obviously)
Jared, you would have really liked this Apple store - it was all underground

Anna and Mom - here I am in front of FAO Schwartz and the armored bear (there was a lot of Golden Compass stuff in there)

We had a lot of fun on our trip with Dave's family. We hope everyone's Thanksgiving was great!

Mom and Dad are in Prague

Hey all you!

Well, here we are in Prague, and it is raining! But we got to see
some of the city yesterday. I tried to post some pics on the blog,
but it did not work for some reason. So, I am attaching a couple. Me
and Mom on the Charles Bridge, and a shot from the castle looking down
on the city. It was pretty cold also. But all is going well. Hope
all of you are doing great!

Michigan In October (even though it felt like june)

Here are a few pics of our recent trip to Michigan.

Dave and I went to Shenandoah last weekend. It was so pretty! Fall is definitely my favorite time of the year here. It doesn't feel like we've quite hit fall yet because its still 90 degrees, but we're supposed to get to 70 degrees this week. Here are a few pictures from our trip:
