Well, its been a long time since someone has posted, so I thought I would. Right now Dave is half way through finals. He took two finals last week and will take two next week. He has been studying really hard - as you can see. He is excited to start his job in a couple of weeks, and I am excited that its almost summer for me!

Italy Week 5: Verona

Wow! 5 weeks, at least 5 Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays have passed since we have been in Italy. Today was the day after Easter, (April 9) and is a national holiday in Italy. We took the train from Vicenza to Verona, only about a 35 minute ride, and spent the day walking around this wonderful city. It has an arena dating from the 1st century, and a Roman theatre even older. The river running through the town adds a serenity to the surroundings. On top of that it was a beautiful day - sunny and in the 70s.

This is a view from the oldest bridge in the city, looking at the wall of a castle connected to the bridge.
This is a view of the bridge. It was destroyed by the Germans as they retreated from the city during WWII, and the citizens of Verona dredged the river to recover all the pieces of the bridge so they could re-build it.
We climbed to a museum above the city and had this view of the river and the old city center.
Here we are down by the river and near the old bridge and the castle.

Doots at the Italian Beach

We went to Lake Garda the day before Easter. It is a beautiful lake - the largest of the northern lakes region. Another lake in the region is Lake Como, north of Milan. Lake Garda is about 20 kilometers west of Verona.

This is just a view of the "beach". There is no sand - just rocks. This is a small ristorante on the shore - a beautiful setting for a meal. We did not eat there.
Some swans on the lake. You can just see a snow covered mountain in the distance.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone. Joan made dinner and we all had a good time. The Tigers also won in the top of the 9th on a three run shot with no outs by Pudge. They beat the Royals 3-2. Notice that Theo got into a little bit of easter candy......

My Senior Project Presentation

If anyone is interested, here is my project presentation that I gave for my senior project. If you want to look at any slide for longer than the time it stays there, you will have to pause the movie. Sorry, I could not figure out any other way to do it

The Doots in DC

Mom and Anna came to visit us in DC this past week. I had no idea Anna was coming. Dave picked her up from the airport and when I came home with mom, Anna was there! It was really fun to have both of them here.
This first picture was taken in the Tidal Basin. Its the Jefferson Monument. Saturday was the start of the Cherry Blossom Festival and the Tidal Basin is one of the best places to see the trees in bloom.

Saturday was also the annual kite festival on the mall. There were a lot of kids and also a lot of adults out flying kites, it was really fun.

Here is me and Anna in the hotel room.

As you can see, DC sure is beautiful. Anyone is sure welcome to come visit us!!! :)
