Color me mine

We went to "Color me mine" on a date the other week and had fun painting stuff.  I did a butterfly jewelry case for Janine and she did a cup so she can drink hot chocolate.  Luckily Jeff came and helped us finish off our projects.  Don't worry, they looked a lot better after they came out of the oven.

Unwelcome House Guest (Warning: this is kinda gross)

So, a couple of weeks ago, Dave and I started hearing some pitter patter of little feet in our ventilation system. This went on for about 2 days. I heard the little noises on Tuesday morning. That night when I came home from work, no more noises, but I noticed there was a dark shape in front of one of our vents. I went as close to the vent as I dared to inspect it. It was not moving and there was definitely fur. I deduced that whatever was making those pitter patter noises must now be dead in our vent. And it did not look small either. I called our landlord and she then called the exterminator and told me the earliest they could come was the NEXT Tuesday. That was a little too long for us, so Dave decided to take matters into his own hands. We went and bought some heavy duty kitchen gloves and Dave recruited TJ and Ryan to help him out. They actually seemed excited about the idea of helping Dave get a dead rodent out of our vent. I, of course, did not want to be there when all of this happened so I went to dinner with some friends. I thankfully came home to the boys playing Guitar Hero in a rodent-free apartment. Here are some pictures detailing the rodent removal.

He's right behind that vent

Theo and the duck

We let one of our neighbors borrow one of our pans and when he brought it back, he also gave us a duck that he shot. It was an American Widgeon. Anyway, we had it in our freezer for about 2 months and yesterday Joan decided to try and cook it. It turns out that we do not like duck very much, including Theo.

Snowshoeing

Joan and I took a little of the money we knew we were getting for our tax return and bought some snowshoes. Joan also found a little carrying pack for Theo at the thrift store for a dollar. We went to a park in the middle of the city of Madison that has a lot of trails and went for about a mile. It was a blast.

The Italy Room

We're not sure why we call this the Italy room now. But we still like it. We moved a couple chairs in and bought a lamp and a small table from the exclusive French design establishment Target. It is a comfortable room to sit in, and any one can visit any time they would like.

In honor or MLK day we bought a car! It is a 2008 Subaru Impreza. We like it. It is dark gray and does wonderfully in the snow. Here are some pictures for everyone to see

A Day at the Beach

We had a fun day in St. Joseph, MI at the beach. It was very cold, very windy, and very icy. We did not go barefoot (the sand was frozen!) or venture in the water at all (kind of hard to navigate around the ice).

Anna is showing off one of her birthday presents standing in front of a cool light house in St. Joe.

Tim and Janine on the icy pier in St. Joe. We think with the wind chill it was about 40 below! At least it felt like it. It might have only been 10 degrees or so.

St. Joseph....Frozen Over....

Here are a few more pics from our little trip to St. Joseph. It was a lot of fun...but pretty cold. The sand was all frozen and the pier was covered in ice. It was pretty crazy. There was sand everywhere.
No Parking....
